A huge party was held at the central synagogue in Kiev in honor of the birthday of the city’s shliach and Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Moshe Reuven Asman.

As a surprise, Rabbi Yakov Silberman, head coordinator of Chabad operation, organized a grand event in the King David restaurant.

In the middle of the event, entered Rabbi Gilles Bernheim, chief rabbi of France. The Rabbi surprised Rabbi Asman and arrived in Kiev especially for the celebration.

After the official meal, Rabbi Asman showed Rabbi Bernheim around the synagogue and adjacent buildings. Rabbi Berhein was very impressed by all of the institutions Rabbi Asman has built and the organizations he has operating.

Rabbi Bernheim expressed his satisfaction at the Chabad House and synagogue and wished Rabbi Asman well in every matter so that he may continue his good work.

Later that evening an event was held for the supporters of Chabad who took the opportunity to commend and bless their rabbi for his selfless efforts throughout the years in spreading Judaism and bringing Jewish people together.

The formal meal evolved into a Chassidishe Farbrengen led by Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Nachshon, head of the Mitzvah Tanks in Israel. He was flown in especially for the occasion.

The Farbrengen extended late into the night and concluded with good resolution in the active continuity of the Chabad activities in Kiev and the summoning of new strength to do more in honor of Yud Aleph Nisan.
